F1natics Fantasy F1 competition follows the F1
FIA Race Calendar through
the year and helps maintain your interest in F1
and generates some friendly rivalry.
Making your Picks and earning your Points
For each F1 Race, you can
earn points as follows:
You get points for correctly guessing which F1
Drivers record the
three fastest (aggregate) times during qualifying.
You don't have to get the order right - just
pick the Top-3 Qualifiers in any order! NB. Any
starting-grid penalties that get applied to an F1
Driver or Team will
not change the Top-3 Qualifiers for the purpose of
F1natics competition. The points for
this are basically "10" for each correct guess,
with an additional 10 point bouns ifyou pick all
three correctly (yielding a maximum of 40 points).
This means you can score 10, 20 or 40 for this category.
Remember that the order of the top 3 does not matter
- just make sure you have
all three to earn max points.
Race
Finishing Order
You win points in this category by correctly guessing the
Top-8 finishing positions in
each race. These points
are in addition to any points earnt by picking
the Top-3 Qualifiers. For each race, you can
only pick a driver once (either 1st-8th place).
That is to say that you can
not pick the same driver to finish both in 1st
and 2nd place, for example. If the driver finishes
in exactly the same place that you picked him,
then you earn maximum points. If you're close
but not exactly right, then you get less points
- but it's better than nothing, right? For example,
if you pick a driver to finish 3rd but he actually
finishes 2nd or 4th, then you'd get 8 points.
If he finishes 8th, you'll get 3 points. The
table below helps illustrate this "sliding-scale"
points structure.
Note that picking 1st place correctly earns double points.
Pick-5 Race Bonus
You can also earn an additional bonus of 30
points, if you correctly guess five drivers
in the correct place for the race (eg. 1st,
2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th or any other combination
of five).
Exceptions to Rules/Points
Allocations
If a driver is penalised after the race, for
an infringement during the race and is removed
from the top-8 finishing positions as a result,
then this will be reflected in YOUR points too.
However, the Top-8 standings in this competition
will become fixed seven days after completion
of the GP in question, which basically rules
out any changes made by a tribunal or scheduled
hearing.
Per Race Deadline
The deadline for entering your picks before each race
weekend is 11PM (NZST) on the Friday night of race
weekends. The 11PM deadline is enforced by this website,
and picks after that time will be rejected. For our
international punters, the Friday 11PM NZST deadline
is roughly 2 days before race start proper. If you
get your picks in THREE days before "the lights go out" you'll
be quite safe. For the more timezone astute, you'll
know that NZST is UTC+12.
If you fail to make submissions on time for any race,
then your picks from the previous race will be used.
This would allow you to keep the same picks all season
if you so desired. If at any point you wish to change
your picks, then just login, modify your picks and
save them.
After the pre-race cutoff, you'll be unable to make any changes to your picks
until about 6-12 hours following completion of the
race.
